OVAL SERIES
MASS FINISHING EQUIPMENT
Oval Benefits
- Extended channel over conventional bowl
- Long process channels
- Dual drive
- Reduces part-on-part impingement during processing
- Reduces bending or jack-strawing
- Standard extended screen
- Multiple machine applications use less floor space when aligned adjacent to each
other
- Longer time cycles which help in batch or continuous processing
- High Amplitude
- Processing chambers from 6-5/8" to 29-1/4" wide

Flexibility: Roto-Finish, with its widely recognized expertise in developing logical solutions to
surface preparation and finishing needs, offers the Roto-Finish oval which permits
flexibility in finishing, burnishing and cob meal drying. Automation is achieved via
parts/media separations and optional loading and unloading systems. The machine flexibly
covers the full line of processes including ball burnishing, deburring, preplate
finishing, and washing for a wide range of part sizes and materials, including ferrous
metals, plastics, wood and ceramics. Improved process control is intrinsic to the
structural design and further enhanced by options such as dual amplitude, programmable
control, wrap-around screen decks, and gate clearing.
Continuous Processing: The oval design, which features an extended channel, permits integrations with other
manufacturing processes such as casting, grinding, and stamping. Parts can be fed
continuously and all parts run at the same speed with no time lost for loading and
discharging.
High Automated Production: Oval Systems can be designed for operations demanding high, automated production,
including stampings, bearings, precision-machined parts, fasteners, die castings and
bisque ware. They can be designed to handle part configuration. They can also be used to
finish long parts, which tend to bend or jackstraw in conventional equipment. They are
also ideal for relatively small operations, where the ability to combine processes is
critical.
Durability: The OV Series features a cartridge drive with continuously-monitored oil
recirculations. Due to the improved mechanical design, the system's power requirement is
below that of conventional designs. Additional cost savings result from increased
working capacity per square foot of floor area and long bowl lining life.
Individual oil recirculation is provided for OV series ovals through OV-12. OV Series
ovals OV-14 and larger are supplied with central oil recirculation equipped with a heat
exchanger, flow control valves and individual oil flow monitors for each bearing.
Design and Engineering Features
- Rugged Structural Design: resulting from 21 years combined engineering
experience in the manufacture of ovals and the dependability that has become
expected from Roto-Finish
- Polyurethane Line: a minimum 1" thick lining in either a flat bottom or
spiral bottom design
- Dual Shaft Design: which facilitates improved amplitude, lead angle (when
required) and consistent flow of mass. Shafts are interconnected utilizing heavy
duty sprockets and a timing belt and take-up. The drive is connected to the shafts
with 'V' belts and belt take-up
- Higher Amplitude: ensures optimum processing capabilities
- Low Profile: permits convenient access to process controls, media and
parts
Standard Operating Features
- Unique cartridge drive system: Minimizes vibration to the motor and
maximizes the working life of the drive system. Designed for ease of installation
and service, including easy access to all seals. All seals rotate with shaft, to
prolong working life.
- Adjustable, drop-on eccentric weight system: Provides quick, simple
vibration adjustment to optimize processing time and media/parts separation. Weight
segments are located on each end of a vertical shaft. An indexes plate at the top,
shaft-end, has numbered holes to permit selection and repeatability of desired
settings. No tools are required for adjustment on standard weight systems.
- Built-in parts/media separation: Provides rapid, reliable separation of
media and processed parts. Discharge gate is built into the chamber and is
controlled by a manual lever or pneumatic cylinder (which can be timer-operated).
When the separating gates is raised, the contents of the processing chamber go out
over the screen deck.
- Manual, lever-operated gate: Allows for batch-type operations where more
than once-around processing is desired. The media drops back into the chamber, and
finished parts move to a collection point or to the next production station. The
Oval offers 100% unload of parts.
- Quick-change, extended screen decks: Permit the widest variety of deck
patterns to meet all separation requirements. Deck materials include woven wire,
cast polyurethane screens or tie rods, plus variations and combinations to meet
specific requirements.
- Compound flow-through system: Provides automatic mixing and metering of
compound and water to ensure maximum cleanliness of media and parts. Systems is
composed of an electrically-operated variable-delivery compound pump, which injects
the concentrate into a controlled-flow water line.
- Multiple pop-in drains: Carry away soiled solution and simultaneously
remove debris, including metal chips, and particulate. Interchangeable drains of
molded polyurethane are available in a variety of shapes and sizes to meet specific
processing requirements.
- Continuously-monitored oil recirculation: Ensures that the entire system
is getting oiled. Tied into control panel to prevent start-up without adequate
lubrication.
- Compact drain trough and settling tank: A drain trough is attached to the
base perimeter and effluent flows into a compact selling tank which serves as a
solution settling tank for larger particles. Easy to clean out.
- Limit switches at all hinged access doors: For operator safety, the
machine automatically shuts down when access doors are opened.
- Controls: Include fusible disconnect, 120V control circuit. Totalizing
hour meter. Process timers (standard on most models).
Continuous improvement of products is a standard policy. All specifications
and designs are subject to change without notice or obligation. Prices are also subject to
change and do not include taxes and freight where applicable.
